

Walter “Scrappy” L. Robinson, Jr. a beloved member of the Austin community, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on July 6, 1945, in Austin, Texas, Walter was a lifelong resident who enriched the lives of those around him with his warm heart and infectious spirit.
A proud graduate of (Old) L.C. Anderson High School, Walter furthered his education at Del Mar Tech in Corpus Christi, Texas. His dedication to service extended to his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. A man of faith, Walter was a devoted member of David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and had a rich spiritual life, including his involvement with the AME church's chair and Voices of Thunder group choir.
Walter’s skilled hands and strong work ethic were evident in his various roles. He contributed to the community as a maintenance technician for the U.S. Post Office, Bob Miller, and Volkswagen.
Walter’s family was the center of his world. He was first married to Kathy Green, with whom he welcomed four daughters: Denise, Rosalind, Victoria, and Nell. Later in life, he found lasting happiness with Evelyn Steen, and together they cherished 33 wonderful years of marriage. Through this union, he gained three stepchildren, Patrick, Jewell, and Lee Nobles, and embraced his beloved grandson, Jamhal Braddy, as his own.
Known for his adventurous spirit, Walter found joy in the outdoors, particularly through golfing and fishing in Corpus Christi. His friendly and outgoing nature made him a cherished friend to many. Walter had a remarkable ability to connect with people, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sr. and Norma Washington Robinson, and his brothers Arthur Ray (Sheryl), Harold (Tammy), and James (Cynthia.) Walter is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; his daughters; his stepchildren; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; his brothers Charles (Geraldine), John, Freddie (Mahogany), and sister Norma; his nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Colonial Gardens of Austin and Kindful Health Hospice for their care, love, encouragement and support to him during his time in their care.
A Farewell Gathering for Walter will be held on Friday, August 23rd from 4 to 8 PM at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501. N. IH 35, Pflugerville TX.
