

She loved to serve the people, she very much enjoyed working especially providing services. She enjoyed singing and dancing a lot and loved to travel. Anita was a restaurateur and a skilled chef. She created and owned restaurants, the family restaurants were a reflection of her passion for cooking and felt like an extension of her home. Anita was a successful entrepreneur to Linda's Mexican Restaurant, Garza's & Son's Eagle Nest Grocery Store & Lady's Boutique in Eagle Pass, TX. Owning a grocery store was so important to her as she wanted to assure that she had fresh meats, produce, dairy products and more to make the most fresh meals in her restaurants. She also owned multiple Anita's Mexican Restaurants in Houston, Tomball, Hempstead and Waller, TX as well as a Lady's Boutique where she offered specialized fashionable unique clothing, shoes, purses, fur coats, jewelry and more.
Anita was a migrant in her younger years as she was growing up with her parents, she worked in the fields in Idaho, Chicago, Arizona, and many cities in Texas. She met her late husband Loreto at a dance in Idaho, whom both worked in the fields. Anita and Loreto started their business by having migrant contractors working for them as they worked in the fields and yearly they would take a group of men and women to work with them throughout the nation. She also had a passion for cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner for the contractors and as you know the rest was history…she became the great Chef. She also had a passion for sewing and ironing. She enjoyed making the clothes for her and her daughters and she also ironed for others. She was a top salesperson in some local retail clothing stores such as Shoppers World where she styled wigs and Beall’s Dept. Store where she sold clothing. After so many years in restaurant business Anita decided to transition to a new business by becoming a produce distributor in Austin, TX and after that she went with the new trend of business, the Flea Market in the late 1980’s.
Anita is a widow to her late husband Jose Loreto Garza Sr. - married for 65 years joined their right hands and entered into the bond of holy Matrimony. She is survived by her six beautiful children, Rosa Garza Villarreal & Carlos Villarreal+, Maria de la Luz Garza Martinez & Francisco Castillo, Maria Herlinda Garza Taylor & husband Alan Taylor, Jose Loreto Garza Jr. & wife Dora Alicia Garza, Dr. Elizabeth Garza and Guadalupe Garza Sr. & wife Dora Ann Garza, has 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchild. She raised their grandchildren Agustin Alvar III, Ana Maria Garza Navarro & Joe Herbert Alvar. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of all her children.
Anita was a very faithful wife to her husband Jose Loreto Garza Sr. and a lovable mother to all her children. Loved dearly all of the grandchildren. She was admired by many of her family and friends, and was a proud supporter of the U.S. Army as she signed a U.S. Army Community Covenant in Tomball, TX, a proud member of the U.S. Army Houston Recruiting Battalion Community Relations Team and the Association of the U.S. Army Houston Ch., and recently received the 2025 Global Lifetime Legacy Award.
A visitation for Ana will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, TX 78577. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 122 W Hawk Ave, Pharr, TX 78577 with burial to follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens, 4607 N Sugar Rd, Pharr, TX 78577.
