Eddie lived a full life and lived it his way. He was a factory worker, field foreman, produce shed manager, owner of Peña’s Fruit Stand in Alamo and truck driver which he loved most because he got to travel.
He enjoyed playing bingo with his wife and kids, traveling and most of all going to casinos. He beat prostate cancer and Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer.
He is preceded in death by his parents Eduviges Peña and Matilde Cantu, Sisters Matilde and Eufrocinia Peña, and Brothers Hector and Jorge Peña and infant son Eduardo Peña.
He is survived by his six children Maria Elena (Leopoldo) Reyes, Norma Ruth (Kris) Wilfong, Miguel (Beatriz) Peña, Oscar (Belinda) Peña, Aracely (Eligio Jr) Ramirez and Eduviges Peña IV; grandchildren Oscar Peña Jr, Jennette Marie Wilfong, Edward Peña, Joaquin Eduviges Wilfong, Julian Stanley Wilfong, Jaclyn Kris Wilfong, Angelica Dawn Reyes, Hiram Peña, Alexa Brooke Peña, Sebastian Edu Peña, Erik Peña, Stephanie Peña, Karen Peña, Joseph John Reyes, Christopher James Reyes and David Andrew Reyes. Siblings Andres (Anita) Gomez, Rosvelt (Margarita) Peña, Elodia (Eladio (+) Del Angel, Nelda (Antonio) Santillan, Leonel (Eunice) Peña, Gumercindo (Rosalinda) Peña, Tito (Rosa) Peña, Abelardo (Graciela) Peña, Eleazar Peña, Jorge(+) (Rosalinda) Peña, and Matilde Peña. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Oscar Peña Sr, and Eduviges Peña IV, brother-in-law, Dionicio Barrientos, friend, Armando Lopez, grandsons, Hiram Peña, and Sebastian Edu Peña, and son-in-law, Eligio Ramirez Jr.
The family would like to thank everyone who took the time to call during his illness, visited him in the hospital and while in hospice care. He appreciated everyone’s visits, thoughts and prayers.
A special thanks to Dr. Armando Osio and staff, Dr. Suresh Ratnam and the Texas Oncology Staff, Amara Hospice, and his wonderful surgeon, Dr. Bob Saggi.
Family will receive friends Friday, January 17, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr. Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church in McAllen. Funeral arrangements and services are under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley of Pharr.
