G. Yvonne Perez was a woman of profound faith, a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a faithful servant of God. Her life beautifully reflected her love for our Lord, her dedication to education, and her resolute commitment to serving others. Through her steadfast faith and compassion, she left an everlasting impact on countless lives.
After graduating from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and starting her career at PSJA ISD, Yvonne married the love of her life, Manuel Noel Perez Sr., on December 26, 1970. Together, they built a beautiful family rooted in love, faith, and devotion to Christ. She held her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother in the highest regard. Most importantly, her children and grandchildren were her greatest blessings, whom she viewed as the most treasured gifts in her life.
She devoted her life to God, the Catholic Church, and education. With a heart for ministry and a passion for learning, she dedicated herself to building a stronger community through faith, culture, and discipline. Following 13 years of dedicated service in the public school system, both in the classroom and in administrative roles, she co-founded and became principal and president of The Pharr Oratory of St. Philip Neri School System, where her collaborative vision and relentless commitment influenced the lives of numerous students and families. As a national bilingual curriculum textbook author, she also shared her love of knowledge, culture, and education, with a strong conviction in the power of learning. Her work was more than a profession; it was a deep-rooted calling, guided by her devotion to serving God.
A woman of many talents and refined passions, Yvonne had a profound appreciation for music, dance, culture, and the arts. She found joy in playing the piano and expressed her love of dance through the beauty and grace of ballet. She held a special fondness for the timeless charm of classic cinema and delighted in life's simple pleasures. Christmas was especially dear to her heart; a season filled with love and tradition in anticipation of the birth of Christ. She loved gathering with her family to decorate, enjoy beautiful music, and create long-lasting memories.
Yvonne found beauty in life’s simplest pleasures and immeasurable joy in the beautiful traditions and moments shared with those she loved. She also found comfort in traditional Mexican dishes, her favorite popcorn snack, anything chocolate, and most especially treasured weekend girls’ lunches and shopping trips with her daughters Maricela and Laura. She was also delighted in the lifelong friendships she shared through childhood, school, her relationships at the Oratory, and friends in the church and community. Yvonne cherished her sisters and parents from Mission, Texas, embracing both her maternal and paternal families and keeping them forever close to her heart.
Moments filled with laughter, conversation, and love reflected the beautiful heart of a woman who understood that life's greatest blessings are often found in the time we share with those closest to us.
Above all, Yvonne was a woman whose life was centered on God and her calling to serve Christ and the community. Her faith was her foundation, her family was her greatest treasure, and her life's work was an expression of her love for both. She led with compassion, served with purpose, and gave of herself gracefully and abundantly. The seeds of faith, wisdom, and kindness she planted in the hearts of others will continue to grow long after her earthly journey.
Though her family and all who knew her will deeply miss her presence, comfort can be found in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that a life devoted to God is never forgotten. Her love will remain in every prayer spoken, every song sung, every lesson remembered, every family tradition continued, and every life she helped shape.
Yvonne's earthly journey may have come to an end, but her spirit, faith, and legacy will live on through the family she cherished, the students she inspired, and the community she faithfully served. May she rest peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord, the Holy Spirit, and our Holy Mother Mary. May she be reunited with the eternal promise of His Heavenly Kingdom.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Manuel Noel Perez Sr.; her three children, Maricela Yvonne Perez, Manuel Noel Perez Jr. (Criselda), and Laura Isabel Perez; and her four grandchildren, Michael Alex Soto II, Gabriel Felix Perez, Manuel N. "Trey" Perez III, and Remington Nicandro Perez.
Her life was a true testament to faith; her love was a blessing to her family, and her legacy will forever be a light for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
