Homar Zahry Alvarez, age 42, of San Juan, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025. Born on December 19, 1982, in Elsa, Texas, Homar was the beloved son of Maria L. Davila and the late Homar Alvarez.
Homar was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend whose greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Maria L. Davila; his sisters, Norma T. Moralez, Yolanda Martinez, and Maria D. Gaona; and his brother, Daniel Alvarez. He also leaves behind nine cherished nieces and nephews, and thirteen grand-nieces and nephews who brought light and laughter to his life.
Homar was preceded in death by his father, Homar Alvarez.
A proud and lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan, Homar’s loyalty to his team was only matched by his love for those closest to him. Known for his playful sense of humor and constant pranks, Homar brought smiles and laughter wherever he went. His family was his inspiration and the center of his life; he was a true family man in every sense.
Homar’s presence, humor, and heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
To honor Homar’s memory and his passion for the 49ers, the family requests that guests wear 49ers gear or the color red on the day of his burial.
Serving as pallbearers are Daniel Alvarez, Jose Noriega, Aaron Noriega, Brandon Martinez, Juan Martinez and Ernesto Aguilar.
A visitation for Homar will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, TX 78577. A chapel service will occur Friday, May 2, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. followed by a burial at 1:00 p.m. at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens.
