Jose Montalvo III

Jose was a devoted and cherished presence in the lives of all who knew him—steady in his love, patient in his manner, and thoughtful in the countless ways he showed he cared. He met life with quiet bravery and a hardworking spirit, carrying himself with honesty, humility, and purpose. In both word and deed, Jose was compassionate and kind-hearted, offering reassurance through his calm strength and genuine attentiveness that made others feel seen, heard, and valued. His steadfast character and gentle patience left a lasting impression that will be remembered with deep respect, gratitude, and love.

Jose found his greatest joy in the simple blessings of life. He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, where he found peace and happiness. He treasured family gatherings, backyard barbecues, and celebrating every opportunity to bring loved ones together. Whether it was a major holiday or an ordinary day, Jose believed every day was worth celebrating, filling each occasion with laughter, warmth, and togetherness.

A proud United States Army veteran, Jose served his country with honor and carried that same sense of dedication and integrity throughout his life. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, family man, and friend.

In 1970, Jose married the love of his life, Genoveva, beginning a marriage built on enduring love, faith, and commitment. Together they shared a lifetime of memories and were blessed with four children: their beloved daughter, their precious princess, who preceded him in death, and their three sons, who continue to carry forward his values, strength, and love for family.

Jose's legacy is one of unwavering love, selfless devotion, quiet strength, and cherished traditions. His life was a beautiful reminder that the greatest gifts are found in faith, family, service, and the moments shared with those we love. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him, inspiring them to love generously, work diligently, and celebrate life every day.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Daughter, Melissa Montalvo and Granddaughter Catalina Montalvo.

Jose is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years of marriage, Genoveva Montalvo; Sons Jose Miguel (Maria) Montalvo, Daniel (Helene) Montalvo, Marcos Montalvo, he is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas 78577, on August 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 pm.

A Catholic Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas 78577, on August 11, 2026, at 11:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veteran Cemetery in Mission, Texas, on August 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

Funeral services are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr.
