

Born in Pharr, Texas, he was a lifetime resident. Juan dedicated his life to God, Country, and Family. His life was marked by service, generosity, and love. In his younger years, Juan proudly served in active duty for the United States Army and later with the Texas National Guard. After more than two decades of honorable service—spanning over 20 years—he retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class, as recognized on his National Guard certificate. During his military career, he held various positions of leadership and responsibility, always exemplifying discipline, dedication, and patriotism.
Juan remained active throughout his life as an avid runner and could often be seen running through the Pharr community where he grew up and resided. He loved the outdoors and had a natural talent for working on car engines. More than anything, Juan’s greatest gifts were his caregiving spirit and unconditional love for family. He lovingly cared for his father, sisters, niece and nephews, and took special joy in the lives of his great-niece Isabelle Espinosa and great-nephew Alexander Espinosa. Juan lived a simple, humble life, always putting family before self. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his brother, Jose (Candida +) Fonseca; his sisters, Maria Hilda Espinosa, Julia F. (Agustin +) Cantu, and Maria San Juanita Fonseca; his niece, Ana D. (Gilberto) Gonzalez; nephews, Jose Luis (Monica) Fonseca, Alfredo O. (Fanny) Espinosa, Francisco J. (Jessie) Espinosa, Oscar O. (Maria) Espinosa; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugenio Fonseca and Petra Lopez-Fonseca; his three sisters, Esmeregilda Fonseca, Carlota Fonseca, and Maria Lilialda Fonseca; a brother, Isidro Fonseca; and a nephew, Luis O. Fonseca.
A visitation will be held from 4 pm to 10 pm, with a 6 pm rosary followed by a 7 pm Catholic service on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, located at 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas 78577,
Juan’s life was one of quiet strength, devotion, and faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
