Lucilla Medina

Lucilla Rios Medina (Lucy) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, June 24,2021, at the age of 62. Lucy is survived by daughter Rosalinda Medina; grandchildren Ruby Alexandria Purselley, Anthony Jordan Zamora and Kiyanna Rose Zamora; great grandson Calian Alexander Mendez. Saul Zamora Jr., who she loved like a son; 7 siblings (Elva, Esmeralda, Hermelinda, Jose, Delia, Rosita, and Mark). Numerous nieces and nephews, plus additional family and friends who she held dear to her heart. Lucy is predeceased by daughter Ruby Lynn Medina; Parents Jose Rios and Paula Lara; 4 sisters Maria Elena, Anita, Elia, and Minerva. Lucilla was born on December 4, 1958 to Jose Rios and Paula Lara. She graduated from Dixon, IL High School and attended the University of Pan American where she received a Bachelors and later a Masters in Education. She devoted 28 years as a teacher in public schools and an additional 15 as Owner of “Little Rockets Academy” a childcare center .Teaching was her passion and the love she had for children allowed her to touch so many lives. Lucy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, mentor, teacher, and a second mother to many. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, decorating, reading, watching TV/movies and enjoyed family time. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation services Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 4-8pm and a prayer service at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel in Pharr, TX. She will be laid to rest on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 10 am and a burial to follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens
