Maria del Carmen Pobst

Maria del Carmen Pobst, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 24, 1943, in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico, Maria was the youngest of ten children and the last surviving sibling prior to her passing.

Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt whose life was a reflection of her deep faith, boundless love, and unwavering commitment to her family and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy A. Pobst; her parents, Maria De Los Angeles Mendoza and Francisco Mendoza; as well as her four sisters and five brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Ivonne Barrera (Leroy Barrera); her grandchildren, Briana L. Stephens (Paul Stephens), Lauren N. Kelley (Emmanuel Kelley), and Cristian E. Barrera; and her cherished great-grandchild, Ramiro E. Stephens. Maria is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews whose lives she touched with her warmth and wisdom.

Maria found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—listening to music, dancing, attending church, and spending time with her family. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church in Pharr, Texas, where she was actively involved and deeply loved by her church community.
