Michael worked as a health inspector in the agriculture industry for many years. He was a simple man who found joy in life's everyday moments and in spending time with those he loved most.
One of Michael's greatest pleasures was barbecuing for his family every Sunday. Proudly calling himself the "King of the Grill," he was especially known for his delicious pork chops. Michael was stubborn, grumpy at times, and never afraid to speak his mind, but those who knew him best understood that his love language was often expressed through a grunt, a smile, or simply being present.
Michael enjoyed relaxing with a cold Coors beer while watching his favorite television shows, including cooking programs, golf tournaments, and Wicked Tuna. He was an avid football fan and a devoted supporter of the Oklahoma Sooners. He also cherished the time he spent fishing with his grandson. Above all, Michael loved life and treasured every moment with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Poiriez.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Betty Poiriez; his children, Priscilla Castillo and Michael F. Poiriez Jr.; his grandson, Juan Manuel Castillo III; his son-in-law Manuel Castillo Jr.; his mother, Zelma Poiriez; his brother, David Poiriez; his sister, LeAnn Dixon, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the DHR ER ICU staff for their kindness, compassion, and care during Michael's final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation in celebration of Michael's life. In honor of his personality and the way he lived, the family kindly requests casual attire. Please feel free to wear comfortable, colorful clothing, and refrain from wearing formal attire or the color black.
