Petra Reyes

Born in San Juan, Texas, Petra was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence lit up every room she entered. At the age of 19, she married the love of her life, Agustin Reyes, and together they shared 51 years of a loving and devoted marriage. Every Sunday, Petra and Agustin cherished their time together, going out to eat and enjoying each other's company.

Petra was known for her warmth, charm, and charisma. In the 1960s and 1970s, she was the shining star of the dance floor at the Blue Moon Dance Hall. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—playing bingo, attending family reunions, celebrating holidays, listening to music, and, most of all, dancing.

She was also well known for her incredible cooking. Her uniquely seasoned dishes were a family favorite, especially during Christmas, her favorite time of year. She loved bringing the family together for traditional meals, gift-giving, and celebration. To those who knew her, Petra wasn’t just an extraordinary woman—she was a savvy businesswoman with an uncanny ability to stretch a dollar and provide for her loved ones.

Petra was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Samuel Rico, and three siblings: Samuel Fermin Rico Jr., Hilaria Palomares, and Marcelino Rico.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Agustin Reyes; her five siblings, Cristina Martinez, Maria Luisa (Francisco) Reyes, Pablo (Teresa) Rico, Frances (Roel) Flores, and Graciela Rico; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Petra's beautiful smile, vibrant spirit, and the love she shared so generously will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am, with a talk from 11am to 12pm, following a catholic service at noon, on tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr. Burial will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr.
