A celebration of Rosa’s life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the Big Springs Firehall.
Rosa was born on March 6, 1936, in Texas, where she lived until moving with her family to Big Springs in 1975. In 1997, she returned to Texas to spend more time with her daughter Mary. No matter where life took her, family was always at the heart of Rosa’s world.
Rosa married Lupe Marquez, and together they raised ten children, building a family that would become her greatest legacy. She was a devoted homemaker who took pride in caring for her family and making her house a home. Rosa was also a wonderful cook, and her kitchen was a place where love was shared through homemade meals, family gatherings, and memories that would last a lifetime.
Rosa enjoyed spending time outdoors, where she found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She had a special love for animals, including dogs, goats, her pet turkey, and her beloved chickens. She also enjoyed tending to her flower beds, with roses and canna lilies among her favorites. Whether caring for her animals, working in her garden, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Rosa treasured these everyday moments.
Rosa had many hobbies that brought her joy throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing, making crafts, and working on word-find puzzles. She also loved watching telenovelas and spending quiet moments reading, a pastime she cherished until her eyesight no longer allowed her to enjoy it. She especially enjoyed playing Mexican bingo with family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter and togetherness.
Above all, Rosa’s greatest joy was her family. She devoted her life to caring for those she loved, and the home she created was a place where family could gather, share a meal, and feel loved. Her warmth, her cooking, her love for the outdoors, and the little things that made her happy will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Rosa leaves behind a large and loving family who will cherish her memory and the many ways she touched their lives. Her legacy lives on through the values she instilled, the traditions she shared, and the generations of family who will continue to carry her love forward.
She is survived by her sons Juan Marquez, Pedro Marquez, Martin (Sheryl) Marquez, Tony (Ana) Marquez, Jose (Sheila) Marquez, Pablo (Susan) Marquez, and Rick (Alexa) Marquez; her daughters Mary (Francisco) Madrigal, Lupe (Jimmy) Jimenez, and Isabel (Dave) Weber; 25 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
Though Rosa will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the home she made, and the memories she leaves behind will continue to live on through the generations of her family.
