Rosa Maria Pena

Rosa Maria Peña was known by many titles – Miss Rosie, Ms. Peña, daughter, aunt, friend, sis, and most importantly, Mom. She was a guiding light to many, having raised generations as a catechist teacher, offered unconditional love to her countless nieces and nephews, and devoted herself fully as a mother to one beloved child.

When she became ill, doctors frequently gave grim prognosis, often saying she didn’t have long. But Rosa defied expectations, fighting with grace and resilience for over five years. Throughout, she never stopped sharing her kindness or doubting her faith.

Her laughter, jokes, and love were sincere—and contagious. Nurses from every department visited her off the clock, calling her “the best patient.” It’s telling that in a place where people rarely form bonds, she made hundreds of friends. That’s just who she was—proof that her heart was truly too big for this world.

Her everlasting love and the strength she shared in raising and nurturing so many will never be forgotten. A person only truly dies when they are forgotten—and through memory and the many lives she touched, Rosa Maria Peña will continue to live on.

A catholic mass for Rosa will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church, 312 N 9th St, Alamo, Texas 78516. Following the catholic mass will be a placement of ashes at 12:00 PM at Palm Valley Memorial Park, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas 78577.

Rosa María Peña era conocida por muchos títulos: Señorita Rosie, Sra. Peña, hija, tía, amiga, hermana y, sobre todo, mamá. Fue un ejemplo para muchos, criando generaciones como catequista, ofreciendo amor incondicional a sus innumerables sobrinos y sobrinas, y dedicándose por completo como madre a un hijo amado.

Cuando se enfermo, los médicos solían dar pronósticos sombríos, diciendo a menudo que no le quedaba mucho tiempo. Pero Rosa desafió las expectativas, luchando con gracia y resiliencia durante más de cinco años. Durante todo ese tiempo, nunca dejó de compartir su bondad ni de dudar de su fe.

Su risa, sus bromas y su amor eran sinceros y contagiosos. Enfermeras de todos los departamentos la visitaban fuera de horario, llamándola "la mejor paciente". Es revelador que, en un lugar donde las personas rara vez forman vínculos, hiciera cientos de amigos. Así era ella: prueba de que su corazón era realmente demasiado grande para este mundo.

Su amor eterno y la fortaleza que compartió al criar y nutrir a tantas personas jamás serán olvidados. Una persona solo muere de verdad cuando es olvidada, y a través del recuerdo y las muchas vidas que tocó, Rosa María Peña seguirá viva.

Se celebrará una misa católica en su memoria el sábado 19 de julio de 2025 a las 10:00 a. m. en la Iglesia Católica Resurrection, 312 N 9th St, Alamo, Texas 78516. Después de la misa católica, se colocarán las cenizas a las 12:00 p. m. en el Parque Memorial Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, Texas 78577.
