Sonny Serna

Sonny is survived by his beloved wife of 4 years, Edna Lorena Serna; father Eliezer Serna and mother Armida Serna; sister Lynda Rae Serna and numerous extended family and friends left to cherish his memory.

Sonny was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Sonny will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

Fortunately, Sonny enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Sonny worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was Grant Coordinator at McAllen Boys and Girls Club where he was employed for 10 years. Sonny always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

Sonny enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were fishing with his dad and coaching the youth baseball team, Black Mambas. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others especially BBQs each week.

Sonny was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were watching the Lakers and Dallas Cowboys. He also was a dedicated fan and supporter of PSJA Bears football team. Sonny and his father never missed a game, near or afar.

Simply stated, Sonny was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Sonny will continue to shine like his name in the hearts of his family and friends. He leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories.

A visitation for Sonny will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
