It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of our beloved Ronnie Navarro on May 12, 2026 after a long, brave, and valiant battle with breast cancer. She was a true original with an obsession and devoted love for her family, friends, dogs, The Beatles, and all things Meryl Streep. Ronnie was a strong-willed and passionate person who showered her friends and family with love and attention. She was known as the frequent host of fun and gracious gatherings for her loved ones at her beautiful home which is adorned with her artwork and countless memorabilia. Ronnie was a fighter until the end and gave her last great performance in her last few weeks in the hospital, filled with rollercoaster emotions, both dramatic and comedic moments and finally culminating in a climactic and dramatic end.
Ronnie was the daughter of the late Pilar Navarro and Trini Trevino and was born on January 23, 1975 in McAllen, Texas. She graduated high school from PSJA North in 1993 where she was the president of the drama club, a title she would hold for her whole life. Ronnie went on to earn her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Theatre Arts from UTPA which blossomed into a career as a drama teacher at Escalante Middle School in Pharr which proved award winning. Ronnie was in a number of theatre productions over the years and her love of theatre dominated her life. Her ability to bring together a show by collaborating with those around her either as an actress or as a drama teacher was her true joy. Despite a lengthy battle with her illness bringing an early end to the career she loved, she remained determined to enjoy her life and made the most of each day, always being quick to say yes to invitations to trips, concerts, parties, or even micro-adventures around town. Ronnie was blessed with close friends throughout her life which she lovingly referred to as her extended family and which she cherished and doted on. She will be remembered for her peace, love and kindness, her distinct comedic timing, her parties, and her extensive diamond art collection. She will be missed for her boundless love, thoughtful gifts, her beautiful way with words, and her unique and colorful sense of fashion. This world will be a little less bright without her, but we delight in the thought that she just made her grand entrance without pain and suffering into her second act.
She leaves behind a devastated but immensely proud family including her mother, Trinidad Trevino, sister Michelle Guerrero (Lauro), brother Javier Navarro, sister Patricia Laurel (Raymond), sister cousin Jessica Trevino, and stepsister Josie Anzaldua, her fab five nieces and nephews, Jordan and Chenoa Navarro, Lisa and Diego Guerrero, and Luke Laurel. She is also survived by numerous close friends and extended family, including her beloved and faithful pet dog Peggy.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude for the great care and love shown to Ronnie by ICU staff at McAllen Medical Center including doctors, nurses, their assistants and ancillary staff at the end of her life. We would also like to acknowledge the great care she received during her cancer battle by Dr. N. Wahid and staff at Texas Oncology over the past 12 years. Her service has been entrusted to Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr, Texas and will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday May 22, 2026.
