
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Charles Oliver and her sisters, Margaret Sims Peck and Mary Elizabeth Speight Waldrep.
She is survived by her children, Larrye Oliver Hyde (Richard) of Charleston, South Carolina, Frank Eugene Oliver of Tampa, Florida and Marie Suzanne Oliver of Phenix City, Alabama. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Amy Christina Oliver Posey, Joseph Charles Oliver, Vennessa Womble, Richard Christopher Hyde, Rebecca Elizabeth Hyde Dobson, and William Randall Hyde and by five great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. She is also survived by nephew Greg Waldrep, and cousins Vernon Speight, Judy Speight Ferrell and Robin Speight Davy.
Berta lived most of her life in Columbus, Georgia, having graduated from Jordan High School in 1942. She retired from Fort Benning, Georgia where she worked as a civil servant in Personnel as an auditor for military pay records and later worked at Main Post Catholic Chapel.
She loved to travel and visited most of the United States, as well as Great Britain, parts of Europe including Germany and Switzerland, and the Caribbean.
Berta was a strong, vibrant woman who loved her family and friends and was undeterred in her attempts to help them with her advice and counsel. Stories about her will live for years and will always be told with laughter and tears. She will be truly missed.
