Betty Kearney Leis

On Feb 25, 2014 Betty Kearney Leis went home to Jesus. She was born January 17, 1926 in Phenix City, Alabama; daughter of the late Morris J. and Myrtle S. Kearney. She was a Civil Service accountant from Fort Benning before transferring to the Canal Zone, Panama and retiring in 1987. Active member of Central Baptist Church in Phenix City and Wayside Baptist in Miami FL. Beloved wife of late James Leis, devoted christian mother to Rebecca Kearney Griffiths and husband Steven of Ellicott City MD; Stephen Kearney of Miami FL; cherished grandmother to Kevin and Jennifer Griffiths of Ellicott City MD and Brandy Smith of Phenix City and great grandmother to Ashley, Michael, Christopher and Josh. Dear sister to Frederick Kearney Sr and his wife Tina Kearney; late Joseph Kearney and his wife Florece Kearney of Minden LA and late Roselle Rauh of Los Angeles, CA. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews, Frieda Kearney Hiskar, Angela Kearney Franklin, Fred Kearney, Jr., Morris Kearney, Alvin Kearney, Damon Kearney and Randy Wilson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL. Rev. Dexter James will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
