Charles Henry Brooks, 90, passed away on June 16, 2026. Born November 3, 1935, in Greenback, TN, Charles was preceded in death by his parents Dowl Harlan Brooks and Alberta Evans Brooks and sister Dorothy Jean Moffett.
A man of steady devotion and quiet faith, Charles lived with a sense of duty that showed itself in the way he served others and in the honest, dependable life he built. He served as an MP in the U.S. Army, and he later dedicated many years to Vulcan Materials Company, retiring after a hard-working career as Maintenance Supervisor—work that reflected his reliability, integrity, and commitment to doing things the right way. His service to others also included many years to Rose Hill Church of Christ where he served as a deacon as well as oversaw building and maintenance.
Charles shared his life with his wife, Linda Leak Brooks for over 68 years. He was a beloved father to Anita Brooks Stansell (Jerry) of Sand Rock, AL, Sheila Brooks Caddell (Jeffrey) of Ashville, AL, and Robert Brooks (Leigh) of Cataula, GA. He was a proud grandfather to Brooks Brannan, Ian Brannan, Breanna Brooks Owen (Riley), and Harlan Brooks, and a great-grandfather to Hayden Brannan and Kylie Brannan. He also held a special place in his heart for his many grand dogs.
In his personal life, Charles found simple joys that spoke to his enduring spirit—an avid Auburn fan, he followed his team with loyalty.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was an accomplished marksman, hunter and proud NRA member but most of all a proud American.
He will be missed by many and remembered by so many more.
