Charles Wesley Johnson, 87 of Phenix City, Alabama died Saturday September 10, 2016 in Columbus, GA. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Riverdale Cemetery with Rev. Hank Reeves officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL.
Charles was born November 19, 1928 in Little Vine, Alabama (near Dothan); son of the late Albert Willie Johnson and Augusta "Gussie" Grantham Johnson. Charles was a Korean War veteran and he retired from civil service at Fort Benning in 1989. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Bell Youngblood Johnson, his son, Charles Randy Johnson, brothers: Willie Howard Johnson and George Bryant Johnson; sisters, Kathrine Johnson, Evelyn Johsnon Wynn, Shelvy Jean Johnson Frey and Barbara Ann Johnson Pickard.
Survivors include his daughter, Charlene Denise Johnson of Columbus, GA, brothers, Robert Lamar Johnson and wife Estelle Lu Youngblood of Oakwood, GA, Albert Johnson and wife, Helen Hicks of Columbus, GA and Elbert Johnson and his wife Josephine Martin of Salem, AL.
