Former long-time resident of Phenix City, AL, currently lived in Maumelle, AR with her daughter, we went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by Angels on Friday September 7, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Celebration of her life will be held 11:00 am Friday, September 14, 2108 at Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 North/280W, Phenix City, Alabama. Reverend (Dr.) Tony Dickerson from Pine Hurst Baptist Church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 13, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Dempsey was born June 13, 1937 in Phenix City, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late William Jesse and Mamie Lee Walls. Dempsey had worked at Grants & Newbery and H & R Block in Columbus and was a member of Pinehurst Baptist Church in Columbus. Her interest included cross-stitching, reading, and spending time with her high school buddies. She loved her daughter, family and friends, and grand dogs. Dempsey especially loved cheering on her favorite football team, Alabama’s Crimson Tide!
Dempsey was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ronnie Walls; and her husband of 54 years, Thomas E. “Gene” Greer.
Survivors include her daughter, Belinda Greer of Maumelle, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Sandra Walls of Smiths Station, Alabama; loving niece, April Wofford; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. B Lamar Carden and his staff in Phenix City, Alabama and Baptist Hospital Cardiology team in Little Rock, Arkansas.
