Dorothy V Stafford

Mrs. Dorothy Virginia Stafford, 85, of Smiths Station, Alabama, died Wednesday March 9, 2011 in Phenix City. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday March 12th in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867, with Father Tom Weise officiating. Interment will be Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Stafford was born October 3, 1925 in Phenix City, daughter of the late Grant Hedden and Rosie Cole Hedden. She retired from the F.W. Woolsworth Department Store in Phenix City and was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Phenix City. Other than her parents, Mrs. Stafford is preceded by her husband, Charles E. Stafford, her son Joe Stafford, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Charles Eugene and Jenny Stafford, Pat and Billy Sellers, Donald Stafford, Dorothy Osborne, Richard and Karen Stafford, Rita and Ronnie Hamrick, all of Smiths Station, AL., 3 sisters, Martha Hedden and Bonnie Malone of Smiths Station and Elizabeth Tidwell of Columbus, GA., 26 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
