SFC Earl Lewis Waterman, Jr. U.S. Army (Ret) 75, also known as "Hipshot" of Fort Mitchell, AL died Monday April 21, 2014 at the Midtown Medical Center. Funeral Services with military honors will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday April 28, 2014 at Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, AL with burial to follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mr. Waterman was born December 13, 1938 in Columbia, Missouri. He is the son of the late Earl Lewis Waterman, Sr. and Sarah Lee Long Waterman. He served in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit with 23 years of service. He was a life member of the V.F.W., the MMA and the NRA. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Lewis Waterman.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Billie Jean Troutman Waterman of Ft. Mitchell, AL, daughter, Lisa Gail Waterman of New Mexico, son Scott Pyles of Bluffton, SC, brother, Robert David Waterman of New Mexico, grandson, Joshua Pyles, granddaughter, Nicole Waterman, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
