Gary Edwin Capes

Gary Edwin Capes, 71 of Columbus, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020. He was born December 5, 1941 in Columbus, Georgia; son of the late Kermit and Grace Mann Capes. He honorably in the U.S. Army and was retired from Publix on Macon Road in Columbus, GA. Survivors include his wife, Jane Gibson Capes of Columbus, GA, his sons, Donnie Capes and wife, Karin of Smiths Station, AL, Nathan Capes and wife Janna of Bearegard, AL, Chris Capes and wife, Angie of Scott Air Force Base, IL and Jeff Capes of Smiths Station, AL; grandchildren Elizabeth Capes and husband, Vann, Madison Capes, Alejandro "Luke" Gonzalez, James Michael Capes, Jojanna "Lanae" Capes, Jada Capes, Paige Welsh and husband, Brennen, Kayla Capes and Lilly Capes. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Ava Vann, Eden Grace Vann, Hosanna Vann, Kayden Murray, Cooper Murray, Gracie Ann Capes and Olivia Capes.

Mr. Capes was very hardworking; huge Alabama fan who enjoyed Alabama Football. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
