

Guy "Buddy" Head, Jr., age 81, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away on July 5, 2026.
Born on November 3, 1944, at Fort Benning, Georgia, Buddy was the son of the late Guy Emerson Head and Louise Hodges. He was raised in Phenix City, Alabama, and later made his home in Griffin & Forsyth, Georgia, where he became known and loved by so many.
Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Private First Class (E-3). During his service, he was injured while serving in Vietnam. His military service reflected the courage, resilience, and quiet strength that remained with him throughout his life, and he carried that spirit long after returning home.
Above all else, Buddy loved the Lord and loved his family. A faithful attendee of Rock Springs Church in Milner, his faith guided the way he lived and the way he treated others. He never met a stranger, and it seemed that everyone knew Buddy Head. Whether he was sharing a story, cracking a joke, or simply striking up a conversation, he had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome.
Buddy loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and later his great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. He cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by family and created countless memories that will be treasured for generations. He also enjoyed a good poker game and was always ready with a quick wit and a funny remark that could brighten anyone's day.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Ann Boyd and her husband, Brad Boyd; his son, Michael William Head and his wife, Elizabeth Head; and their mother, Mildred Head; his beloved companion, Betty Jo Griffin; his grandchildren, Jordan Boyd, Christopher Head, Brandon Boyd and his wife, Crystal Boyd, Madison Head Lee and her husband, Tim Lee, Nathan Head and his wife, Alexis Head, Hannah Head, and Taylor Head; his great-grandchildren, Bellamy Lee, Caroline Boyd, Aurora Lee, and Watson Boyd.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Emerson Head and Louise Hodges.
Buddy's life was defined by his love for God, devotion to his family, faithful service to his country, and his ability to make others smile. His warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
