

Jack Earl Bryant was born November 13, 1931 near Notasulga, Alabama to Joe W. Bryant and Nannie Baker Bryant. He grew up in the Liberty City community, attended Reeltown School until the 11th grade, and graduated from Macon County High School in 1950. He enlisted in the Air Force Reserve as a Flight Engineer. He worked for many years in different subsidiaries of AT&T: New England Telephone, South Central Bell and NYNEX. He built a home in Northampton, Massachusetts, later moved to Opelika, Alabama and then to South Hadley, Massachusetts where he retired in the mid 1980's. He then moved to Florida, and later to Phenix City, Alabama. He bought land in Pittsview, Alabama, had a house built and lived there for several years. He enjoyed operating his tractor and backhoe. He lived his remaining years in Phenix City. He loved bluegrass music and repairing old musical instruments.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Kathleen), two grandchildren: Karl Bryant (Jennifer) and Laura Martyak; four great-grandchildren, a brother George "Larry" (Elaine), and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Leroy, Charles, Joe and Tommy, two sisters: Edith Phillips and Catherine Basso, a daughter Bonnie Lampron, a former wife Helen (Reuther) LeBlanc, and wives Lois (Twiss) Regan and Judith Vance.
Visitation will be held at Striffler-hamby Mortuary in Phenix City, Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm EDT. A graveside service for family and friends in the Pittsview community will be held Saturday at 3:00 pm EDT at the Pittsview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feeding the Valley Food bank or to Columbus Hospice, both in Columbus, Georgia.
