

James Maurice Helms, Sr., 77 of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 28th at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Gregg and Rev. Charles Langford officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phenix City, AL. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Honorary pall bearers will be members of the Trinitarian Sunday School Class.
Mr. Helms was born March 8, 1935 in Coffee County, Alabama, son of the late Aaron Curtis Helms and Ocie Crenshaw Helms. He was retired from Bill Heard Automotive and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Phenix City, AL.
Survivors include his wife, Docia Anne Helms, daughter, Kittie Johnston and husband Billy, son, Jim Helms, grandchild, Amber Martin and husband Matthew, great grandchild, Tyler Martin and special friend, Bob Silverman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Phenix City, AL.
