James Oliver Sanders, 72 of Phenix City, AL died Sunday July 29, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. EST in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL. with a private burial in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Sanders was born August 5, 1939 in Phenix City, AL, son of the late William Lee Sanders and Mildred Fuller Sanders. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, retired from civil service with 20 years of service and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lucky Lee Darling Sanders.
Survivors include his fiance, Mary Ingram of Columbus, GA, son, James O. Sanders II and fiance, Katherine Kosuda, daughter, Melody Sanders Harris and husband, Richard, grandchildren, James O. Sanders, III, Eric Allen Sanders, brothers, Jack R. Sanders, John M. Sanders all of Phenix City, AL, numerous nices, nephews , other relatives and friends.
