Memorial Service will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM (EST) on Monday, April 28, 2025 in the chapel of Striffler Hamby Funeral Home in Phenix City, with Pastor Mike McBride officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 pm until the funeral hour on Monday at the funeral home, Interment will be at Ft Mitchell National Cemetery at a later date.
Jerry was born September 19, 1941 In Columbus, GA to the late John McBride and Nadine Hubbard McBride.
He was a 1960 graduate of Jordan Vocational High School and served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1961 - 1965. After completion of his military service, Jerry managed Super Auto Parts/Salvage Yard in Columbus for over a decade before opening his auto mechanic shop, adjacent to his brother Tommy’s McBride Auto Parts, on Hamilton Road in Columbus. After years of mechanic work he transitioned into facilities maintenance and served as the Russell County Facilities Maintenance Director until his retirement in 2010.
Jerry was a lifelong avid coon hunter and also enjoyed fishing and golfing. He played senior softball into his late 70’s. He has been married to his wife Jean Waites Bruce McBride for 48 years and they share a beautifully blended family. Jerry turned his life over to the Lord over 40 years ago and gave praise to him daily for the many blessings in his life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Donnie Bruce, and brothers Wayne McBride and Tommy McBride.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean; twin sister Derrie Cook; son, Jody McBride (Tina); daughters, Kelly Hammock (Maurice), and Sharon Smith (Jeff); grandchildren, Breanna, Tyler, Will, Robbie, Maxie, Jodi Ann, Madison, and Justin; great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Easton, Lyla, Elliot, Miles, Anniston, Emmy, Baylor, Isaac, Haven, and Jackson.
