Jerry D. Powell, age 57, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled at Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, Alabama on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, 2 p.m. with Reverend Steve Vann officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Cottonton, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 6-8 p.m.
Mr. Powell, son of the late Harold Junior Powell and Evelyn Fowler Powell, was born December 28, 1960 in Bartow, Florida. He was a mechanic for Dirt Dobbers, Inc. for several years and a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. Mr. Powell loved NASCAR, Georgia Bulldog football, and working on heavy equipment and large trucks. He never met a stranger, would do anything for anybody, enjoyed telling jokes and pulling pranks on family members.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Rachel Powell; a niece, Crystal Wright; and a mother and father in-law, Annie and Pearlie King.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rosie Powell of Phenix City, Alabama; two daughters, Tiffany (David) Beatty, Brittany Powell; three sons, Jeremy (Melanie) Powell, Chris Powell, and Patrick (Paris) Powell, all of Phenix City, Alabama; two sisters, Vee Powell and Cathy (Bryan) Wright, both of Columbus; two brothers, Randy Powell of Pittsview, Alabama and Jimmy Powell of Clearwater, Florida; eleven grandchildren, Kayla, Michael, Brianna, Gracie, Doug, Alex, Anna, Annie, Emilee, Ethan, and Carson; a family friend, Mark Anderson; many other relatives and friends.
