Joanne Beckham Fuqua, 69 of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Lakeview Memory Gardens, according to Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mrs. Fuqua was born September 13, 1948 in Zebulon, Georgia; daughter of the late Emmett Calvin Beckham and Lillie Pearl Fincher Beckham. She was retired from the Muscogee County School District. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Junior Fuqua. Survivors include her son, Kevin Fuqua and wife Angie, daughter, Shannon Johnston, sister, Dianne Brittingham and husband Bruce and her grandchildren, Courtney, Hailey and Matthew Johnston and Ava Fuqua. Mrs. Fuqua was a loving mother and "Nannie" to her children and grandchildren, she loved the Lord and was loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

My grandmother was Ludie Williams Scarborough, sister of Lois Williams Fincher . I am very sorry to hear of Joanne’s passing.
I have a portrait of Herman Fincher’s and a bible that belonged to Lois, both came from Sue and Joe Herman’s house.

So many memories over 42 years.l remember when kevin was born david was abot 5 he would go over and talk with george well on day kevin was a week old george told david i have a little boy now david go get him bring him out so ill have some one to play with.shannon came next i would go to the fence joanne pass baies over the fence.my friend and i for years sat out at nite again at the fence and talk.is still very hard to believe my friend has gone home.but i know one day we will met again sit and talk.
