John William Harrelson Jr.

John William Harrelson, Jr. 68 of Columbus, Georgia died Monday, November 7, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2016 in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City with Rev. Jim Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mr. Harrelson was born August 9, 1948 in Columbus, Georgia; son of the late John W. Harrelson, Sr. and Joyce Griffin Harrelson. He served in the Army National Guard and worked in construction sales most of his life; was a member of Central Baptist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved and cared for his mother greatly. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Durwood and Olga Griffin.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce G. Harrelson of Phenix City, AL, daughter and son-in-law, Jillian Welch Jacobs and Daniel Shane Jacobs of Columbus, GA, grandchildren Mason Daniel Jacobs and Jaxon Luke Jacobs; brother, Roderick T. Harrelson and wife Roberta of Smiths Station, AL, nephews, Nathan Harrelson and wife Cason of Phenix City, AL, Jarred Harrelson, niece Rachel Harrelson Shaw and husband Ben all of Lynchburg, VA, former wife and best friend, Lana Harrelson of Columbus, GA, a great niece and a great nephew.
