Johnnie McConnell

Johnnie will be honored at a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 1993 Lee Rd 136, Opelika, Alabama 36804, on March 18, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1993 Lee Rd 136, Opelika, Alabama 36804.

He was born June 9, 1951 in Alabama; son of the late Curtis and Ceola McConnell. He worked most of his life in construction and was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Opelika, AL. He will be remembered as an avid reader and loved spending time with his family.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Darlene McConnell, brother, Bubba McConnell and his sisters, Lois Moore and Billie Ann Roberts.

Survivors include his son, Phillip McConnell, daughter, Jill Strickland, grandson, Trey Strickland, great grandson, Hudson Strickland, brothers, Donnie McConnell, Larry McConnell, his sister, Betty Sue Spatola and numerous nieces and nephews.
