Ret. SFC Julius Daniel Barron, better known as “Shorty” was born September 19, 1941. He passed away peacefully in his home May 5th, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents Glen and Louise Kinsaul, and daughter Wanda Barron Scott. He was a devoted husband to the late Shirley, Miriam, and Ruby.
He is survived by his son Dwayne Barron (Clara), son Glen Barron (Cheryl), and daughter Angela Barron Harbert (Scott), and two brothers Robert Kinsaul (Shelia) and Ray Kinsaul (Sandy) as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Army National Guard for 21 years of service, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He worked at Mead Coated Board for 38 years. He was a devoted Christian and kind man that would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it. He enjoyed guns, knives, and gadgets. He loved animals of all kinds, especially his cats. Most days after retirement you could find him in his garden or piddling in his shop.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held a 3:00 P.M. Thursday, June 6, 2024 in Lakewood hall at Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City. The family will receive friends following the service.
