Lenora Steverson Briley went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was born on December 1, 1938, in Jacksonville, GA (Telfair County). She was an active member of Phenix City First Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Jacob Briley, and her daughter, Judy Karen Briley. She is survived by her children Randy Briley (Lisa), Bonnie Burns (Robert), and Tracy Kelly (Nate). She was Grandma to Jonathan Briley (China) and Justin Briley (Carleigh) and their children, River, Piper, and Harper. She was Mimi to Emerson, Ella, Emma, Everett, and Ezra Kelly as well as Kimberly Carr (Eddie) and their children, Zachery, Braxten and Brooklynn. She was also Mimi to Kristi Smith (Nick) and their children Cameron and Kaleigh and to Ryan Burns (Morgan) and their son, Tate.
Lenora is also survived by her sister, Faye Barfield, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and other family. In the closing weeks of Lenora's life, Faye was a constant presence of encouragement and care-giving. The unwavering devotion between these sisters is an example of how all siblings should be.
Lenora was a woman of strength, grace, humility, and godliness. She served Jesus Christ unashamedly and devoted her life to sharing the gospel through her talent as a pianist and through her calling as a teacher of scripture. Those who knew her best relied on her wisdom in rightly dividing the Word of Truth, of speaking words of wisdom based on scripture, and for praying prayers that touched the heart of God. She was our protector, our strength, our guide, and a refuge we sought during times of need. She was faithful to guide us to the One whom she knew to have all of the answers even when she did not. We have no doubt that she rests now in the arms of Jesus and has received her eternal reward of everlasting life.
A visitation for family and friends for Lenora will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, AL 368682548.
