

Mrs. Lois Fendley Turner, 96, of Phenix City, Alabama, died Monday February 28, 2011 in Phenix City. Funeral services will be held 11:00am EST Thursday March 3rd at the Auburn Heights Baptist Church in Phenix City with the Reverend Wayne Scarborough officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867. Interment will be at 2:00pm EST in the Belcher Bethel Cemetery in Baker Hill, Alabama,near Eufaula, AL. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home. Great grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
Mrs. Turner was born February 14, 1915 in Tuscaloosa, AL. daughter of the late Robert Lee Fendley and Alabama “Allie” Shirley Fendley. She retired from the Swift Mills after more than 20 years of service and was a member of the Auburn Heights Baptist Church. Other than her parents Mrs. Turner is preceded in death by her husbands, William Gillenwater and David Turner, her children, William, Robert , James Paul Gillenwater and Martha Ann Jones, 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Ellis Whitehead of Phenix City, grandchildren and their spouses, Phyllis and Jim Wilson, Cindy and Roy L. Green, Earl Whitehead, Kimberly Brewer, Traci and Donald Brown, 10 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren,brother, James "Jim" Fendley of Georgetown, GA. nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
