Loyette Layne, age 86, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Bethany House, Auburn, Alabama. Funeral services are scheduled at Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3700 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Thursday, November 15, 2018, 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Ricky Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Layne, daughter of the late John Huey Worley and Beulah Sturgis Worley, was born January 31, 1932 in Red Level, Alabama. She was a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church and retired from Winn Dixie where she faithfully worked for over 37 years. Mrs. Layne loved her family, was loving and compassionate to all people, loved to feed anyone, and particularly loved feeding animals.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Corbitt; a daughter, Shirley Ann Riley; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Layne is survived by her husband, Trusty Layne of Phenix City, Alabama; two daughters, Jennie Eiland and her husband Dana of Salem, Alabama and Cathy Wilkinson and her husband Brian of Howe, Texas; one son, Danny Godwin of Phenix City, Alabama; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
