Maria Louise Guthrie Jones

Maria Louise Guthrie Jones, 94, of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away Friday January 4, 2013 in Phenix City, Alabama. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm (EST) Monday January 7th in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431N/280W, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867, with the Reverend Clayton Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Jones was born August 14, 1918, daughter of the late Eli Guthrie and Melinda Miner Guthrie. She retired from the Ft. Benning Post Exchange Service after more than 20 years of service. She has been a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Smiths Station for more than 40 years and was also a member of the Ft. Benning chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Other than her parents Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her husband William T. Jones, Sr., son Tommy R. Jones, 4 sisters and 1 brother.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Archer of Smiths Station, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other than relatives and friends.
