Mary Hamby Brooks

Mary Hamby Brooks, 83 of Phenix City, AL passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. EST at Lakeview Memory Gardens, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL. The family will recieve friends Thursday from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mrs. Brooks was born October 12, 1927 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late William and Ruby Barnes Hamby. She was retired from Fieldcrest Mills and was Baptist by faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Brooks, Sr.

Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Romaines and husband Tony, Barbara Blocker and husband Larry, sons, Robert Brooks, Ronald Brooks and wife Debbie, sister, Shirley Stephens, all of Phenix City, AL, eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren,twelve great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses of Magnolia Nursing Home (West Section) and Vista Care Hospice.
