

Mary Lou Mathis, 93 of Phenix City, Alabama died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Canterbury Health Care. Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. Tuesday December 16, 2014 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Grant Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 12:00pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mrs. Mathis was born January 24, 1921 in Geneva, Alabama; daughter of the late Thomas Bert and Mary Kinsaul Holloway. She was retired from Bibb Manufacturing after 30 years of service and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bernard E. Mathis and her granddaughter, Lisa Brown.

Morefield and husband Carson of Smiths, AL, Mary Frances Head and husband Billy Ray of Phenix City, AL, Barbara Ann Sides and husband Billy of Smiths, AL, Sandra Faye Clay and husband Chuck of Salem, AL, 13 grandchildren, Ricky Robbins and wife Gwen of Phenix City, AL, Glenn Miller and wife Dana of Smiths, AL, Vicky Pippins and husband Tim of Salem, AL, Donald Brown of Salem, AL, David Head and wife Amy of Salem, AL, Steven Head and wife Casey of Smiths, AL, Jeffery Head and wife Jennifer of Smiths, AL Sandy Exum of Plains, GA, Johnny Pippins of Columbus, GA, Shannon Ray and Husband Brad of Phenix City, AL, Brittany Moody and husband Zach of Phenix City, AL, Shane Clay and wife Libby of Phenix City, AL, Michael Clay and wife Michelle of Salem, AL, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and special niece, Evelyn Strickland and husband Jimmy of Hartford, AL.
