Michael graduated from Smith’s Station High School and attended the University of Alabama and marched in the Million Dollar Band. He was an ordained pastor and served as Worship Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus.
Michael loved Jesus, his family, Calvary Baptist Church and the Alabama Crimson Tide. He started early in his vocation, as a child of 3 “performing” for his family and asking “Which Eagle you wanna be?”. Michael was a gifted musician - singing and playing the guitar, piano and the tuba. He was passionate about passing on his love of music to the next generation and was an adjunct instructor for the low brass section of Smith’s Station High School Band.
Michael is survived by his parents Matt and Debbie King of Phenix City, AL; his sister Tara Coker and her husband Chris and their son Seth Holloway of Salem, AL; his grandparents Dan and Elaine Dillon of Chattanooga, TN, Gerald and Rita King of Lexington, KY; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A visitation for family and friends of Michael will be held Thursday October 13, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 7556 Old Moon Rd, Columbus, GA 31909. A celebration of Michael’s life will follow at 12:00 PM, Calvary Baptist Church, with Ricky Smith officiating. A graveside ceremony will follow for family only at Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, AL.
