Paul Donaldson, age 86, resident of Fort Mitchell, AL, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Medical Center Barbour, Eufaula, AL. Graveside services are scheduled at Riverdale Cemetery, 1000 Victory Drive, Columbus, GA on Friday, November 16, 2018, 3 p.m. with Reverend Ralph Wooten officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3700 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 1pm till 2:30 pm.
Mr. Donaldson, son of the late Thomas Andrew Donaldson and Fannie Belle Gray Donaldson, was born January 28, 1932 in Columbus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve, Naval Air Reserve, Alabama National Guard, and Georgia National Guard, where he honorably served his country for over 22 years. After retiring from the military, he began a career with MEAD, where he worked over 29 years until his retirement. Mr. Donaldson was Methodist by faith; master mechanic on his job; loved gardening; remote control airplanes; and fishing. He was also the main organizer for the MEAD Retirees Luncheon and Jordan High School reunions.
Other than his parents, Mr. Donaldson was preceded in death by a son, Michael Andrew Drury. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, June Donaldson of Fort Mitchell; three daughters, Kim Davenport and her husband Michael of Eufaula, Alabama, Penny Lynn Grogg and her husband Junior of Phenix City, Alabama, and Patricia Stern of Clinton, New York; six grandchildren, Adam Davenport, Robert Davenport, Paul Grogg, Kelly Ables, Scott Bruner, and Heath Bruner; eleven great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
