Paul D. Singer, age 83, resident of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, November 17,2018 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services are scheduled at Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, Alabama on Saturday, November 24, 2018, 2 p.m. with Reverend Robert Beckum officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 6-8 p.m.
Mr. Singer, son of the late Richard Paul Singer and Florence Mildred Wernicke Singer, was born February 26, 1935 in Brooksville, Florida. He served his country honorably in the U.S.Coast Guard, and after leaving the military he began a career with IBM, where he faithfully worked over 30 years until his retirement. Mr. Singer was actively involved with River Cities Model A Ford Car Club. He was a self-reliant man who built his own home and mastered many trades. Mr. Singer loved to hunt and fish, drive his Model A Ford, and the most important thing to him was his family and being a kind and loyal friend.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Nelle Singer of Smiths Station, Alabama; two daughters, Sandy Jones of Duluth, Georgia and Phyllis Tatgenhorst and her husband Richard of Berkley Lake, Georgia; one son, Scott Singer and his wife Lisa of Midland, Georgia; six grandchildren, Leigh Ellen, Bennett, Aryn, Nick, Jordan, and Molly; five sisters; many other relatives and friends.
