Mr. Thaxton is survived by his daughter Missy Dockins, son in law Allen Dockins of Villa Rica GA and his son Ron Thaxton, daughter in law Jennifer Thaxton of Smiths Station, AL. He had 5 Grandchildren Jable Alley, Lela Dockins, Austin Thaxton, Lane Thaxton and Macey Dockins. One great grandson, Kashdyn Allen Dockins. He also had several nieces and nephews who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Charles Thaxton and Ms. Erma Mae Wynn Thaxton. His siblings, Julean Woodall Spencer, Lewis Woodall, Shirley, Nadine, Bobby and Travis Thaxton.
Ronnie attended Jordan High School where he was a pitcher for the baseball team. He pitched several no hitters while there. He went on to play slow pitch softball with some of the best players in the state for many years. When it was time to slow down he took up bass fishing where he was a member of the GA-AL club. Ronnie also enjoyed hunting throughout his life.
He worked at TRW on 3rd shift for 10 years and went from there to Pratt Whitney for 16 years. After having a stroke at age 52 he became disabled but his love for sports was still strong. He could tell you all the stats for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. Ronnie enjoyed good times with friends and family. He has many friends he loved and spent time with through the years who will miss him greatly.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. EST Monday, February 28, 2022 at Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix Cty, AL. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, AL.
