
Ms. Shelby Jean Ivey, 73, of Phenix City, Alabama, died Monday July 4th, 2011 in Petersburg, Virginia. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm EDT Sunday July 10th in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867, with the Reverends Larry Armstrong and Jack Womack officiating. Private interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ms. Ivey was born September 26, 1937 in Columbus, Georgia, daughter of the late Artis W. Ivey and Earleen Robinson Camp. She was retired from the Phenix City School System where she taught special education classes. Ms. Ivey was a former member of the Summerville Baptist Church and a current member of the North Phenix Baptist Church, both in Phenix City. Ms. Ivey was also a member of the American Business Womens Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Russell County/Phenix City retired Teachers Association, Alabama and National retired Teachers Association. Ms. Ivey was also a volunteer with the former Cobb Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, the Columbus Regional Medical Center and the American Red Cross.
Survivors include her sister, Rebecca Ivey, brothers, Chester W. Ivey and Davis W. Ivey, all of Petersburg, VA., friend, Mary Ellen Henderson of Phenix City, special nephews, Bruce Henderson and wife, Janie of Phenix City, Brent Henderson and companion, Calvin Houts, of Atlanta, GA., great nephew, Andy Henderson, many ther relatives and friends .
