Susie Blanche Martin

Susie H. Martin, 74 of Fort Mitchell, Alabama died Friday April 25, 2014 at Phenix City Health Care. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. EST Sunday April 27, 2014 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mrs. Martin was born September 10, 1939 in Harris County, Georgia. She is the daughter of the late James W. and Minnie Hodge. She was co-founder of Fort Mitchell BBQ and past president of the Columbus Jaycettes. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Nickerson and two half brothers, Bobby Hodge and J.W. Hodge.

Survivors include her husband Calvin Martin of Fort Mitchell, AL, Kimberly S. Leone of Lake Worth, FL, Pamela Watson (David) of Fort Mitchell, AL, Calvin (Sam) Nickerson of Fort Mitchell, AL, two step-children, Tommy Martin of Clanton, AL, Susan Smith (Dennis) of Alabama, three grandchildren, Brittany Watson Blakely, Jake Leone, Brehna Leone, two great grandchildren, Colton and Haiden Blakely, one brother, Bo Hodge (Jean) of Tennessee, sisters, Agnes Ellerbee (Bruce) of Columbus, GA, Beth Goodyear (Jim) of South Carolina, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special nephew, Patrick Poole.
