

Thomas E. "Gene" Greer, 73 of Phenix City, AL passed away Wednesday at the Columbus Hospice House. A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431/280W, Phenix City, AL with Elder Clayton Nowell officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Greer was born April 20, 1939 in Phenix City, Alabama, son of the late Curtis and Lucille Parker Greer. He was retired from Sheet Metal Local Union #85, Atlanta, GA and former co- owner of G&P Auto in Columbus, GA. He was a member of St. Luke Freewill Baptist Church in Phenix City, Wilson Williams Masonic Lodge and the Phenix City Shrine Club. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Greer.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dempsey Walls Greer of Phenix City, AL, daughter, Belinda Greer of Little Rock, AR, brother, Paul Greer of Phenix City, AL, sister-in-law, Sandra Walls of Smiths Station, AL, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and loving friends. The family would like to thank Dr. B. Lamar Carden and his staff and Columbus Hospice for all your love and care.
