

SFC Thomas Edison Hanna, 78, U.S. Army ( retired) of Smiths Station, Alabama, died Wednesday January 19, 2011 at the Vista Care health care facility at Franciscan Woods in Columbus, Georgia. Memorial services with military honors will be held 4:00pm Saturday January 22nd in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 highway 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, with the Reverend Doug Morris officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
SFC Hanna was born December 17, 1932 in Hornsby, TN., son of the late Samuel Hanna and Daisy Sanders Hanna. He retired from the U.S. Army with more than 20 years of service having served his country honorably in Vietnam. SFC Hanna is preceded by his wife of 53 years, Billie Ann Hanna and children, Beverly and Tommy Hanna.
Survivors include his children, Margaret Delane Williams of Arkansas, Thomas Edward Hanna and wife Loretta of Montgomery, AL., Bradley Warren Hanna and wife, Cindy of Jacksonville, FL., Douglas James Hanna and wife Patricia of Clarksville, TN., Rodney Matthew Hanna and wife, Robin of Smiths Station, AL., Kimberly Ann Thomas and husband Ricky of Phenix City, AL., 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
