Tommy Justin Farmer, 60, of Salem, Alabama went home to be with the Lord October 6, 2017 at MD Anderson Hospital, Houston, Texas after an extended battle with MDS. Funeral will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. At Beallwood Baptist Church, Columbus, Georgia with burial at Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, Alabama following the service. Visitation will be at the Church beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Tommy Farmer was born December 29, 1956 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Robert James Farmer, Sr. and Ruthie Wiggins Farmer. He was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons and Sunday School Teacher. He also served as a Deacon at Glenn Anthony Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Church where he was ordained more than 30 years ago. He loved the Lord and served him faithfully since the age of 14.
He was owner of Johnstone Supply located in Columbus, Georgia and Opelika, Alabama. He truly loved his work with HVAC equipment and supplies and was very passionate about his employees and customers.
Tommy was an avid hunter and fisherman, loving the outdoors and was a huge University of Alabama football fan. He enjoyed serving the Lord and being with his family, he was a beloved softball coach and influenced many young lives, especially his granddaughters, whom he taught to fish and hunt.
Other than his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracie Elizabeth Farmer, his father-in-law, Bobby S. Robinson and a very special Aunt, Olivia "Livy" Quattlebaum.
Tommy, "Daddy", "PaPa", is survived by the love of his life, Teresa Robinson Farmer, to whom he was married 42 years; daughters, Tiffany Farmer Breazeale and husband, Thomas "Trey"; Tamara Farmer Slocumb and husband, David Slocumb; five granddaughters, Olivia Mariah, Bobbi Taylor, Caroline Ruth, Karrington Renae, and Peyton Elisabeth; mother and father-law, Marc and Norma Morgan; one brother, Robert Farmer, Jr. and wife, Lois; two sisters, Audrey Farmer Jenkins and husband David, Judy Farmer Hodges and husband, Ricky; one brother-in-law, Wayne Robinson and wife, Rosemary; and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, all of whom he cherished dearly.
Active Pall Bearers are: Jimbo Williams, Steve Haberkorn, Jeffery Lunsford, George Meadows, Terry Hutchinson, Jr. and Glenn Cobb. Honorary Pall Bearers are Jim Storey and his six nephews, Brandon Jenkins, Jared Jenkins, Ben Farmer, Cliff Robinson, Clay Robinson, and Chad Robinson.
