

William (Bill) Winfield Owsley of Phenix City passed away Monday, October 3, 2016, at Saint Francis Hospital. Mr. Owsley is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: LeAnn and Kerry McCullars of Lanett, Alabama; Susie and Rodney Stanfield of Manhattan, Kansas; Karissa and Kevin Campbell of Centerville, Tennessee; and four grandchildren, Will Stanfield, Grace Stanfield, Logan Campbell and Tyler Campbell.
Son of the late William Thomas and Ola Owsley, he was born January 6, 1837 In Pepperell, Alabama. Other survivors include one brother, L.O. "Bud" Owsley of Copperas Cove, Texas, and two sisters, Ann (Carl) Downing of Alabaster, Alabama, and Gloria (John) Taylor of Opelika, Alabama, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat (Patsy) Owsley, sisters, Eugenia Chambley and Dorothy Evans, and a brother, Franklin Owsley.
Following graduation from Beauregard High School, Opelika in 1956, Mr Owsley served in the U.S. Navy. A resident of Phenix City since 1963, he was owner of Owsley's Pest Control, was a member of the Columbus Pest Control Organization, and an active member of Summerville Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL. He also enjoyed attending events at the Gallops Center in Columbus. He attended Chattahoochee Valley Community College.
A celebration of faith service will be held at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home, Phenix City on Friday, October 7th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert Goodman officiating. Interment will be at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City on Thursday, October 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations mat be made to the Joyful Learners c/o Summerville Baptist Church.
