Winona was born to Homer and Abbie Klingenberg and grew up in Princeton, Illinois, where she attended all twelve years of school at Bureau Township. After graduating, she moved to Wheaton, Illinois. It was there she met the love of her life, Hollie Moore. They married on January 13, 1962, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted 64 years.
Soon after marrying, Hollie and Winona moved to Long Beach, California, where they were both actively involved with the Navigators ministry. Their family grew with the births of their sons, Randy and Ed, and Winona embraced motherhood with joy and steadiness. She especially loved camping with her family—often inviting another family along to share in the fun and to pass on their camping know‑how. Favorite destinations included Woodchuck and Vasquez Rocks, places filled with memories of laughter, adventure, and togetherness.
After many years in Long Beach, the family returned to Hollie’s hometown of Phenix City, Alabama. Winona worked in the milling industry and became a beloved presence at Central Baptist Church, where she quietly and faithfully loved others through her gentle spirit and steady kindness.
In their later years, Hollie and Winona moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, to spend their final season of life together.
Winona is survived by her husband, Hollie Moore; her sons Randall (Randy) Moore and wife Charlene, and Edward (Ed) Moore and wife Lynn; and her sister, Kay Klingenberg Wildt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Abbie Klingenberg; and her brothers Wilbur, Jerry, Lynn, and Wendall Klingenberg.
Winona will be remembered for her quiet strength, her unwavering love for her family, and the gentle way she blessed every life she touched.
